Job Description

Work with Emergency Physicians in the evaluation and diagnosis of medical illnesses and traumatic injuries
Select, order and interpret ancillary tests appropriate to the condition of the patient. Document the pertinent history, physical exam, ancillary tests and a differential diagnosis for each case. Prescribe medications appropriate to the condition
Perform procedures to include but not limited to:
o Wound repair
o Arthrocentesis
o Splint placement
o Reduction of dislocations

Participate in the education of learners in the Emergency Department
Participate in research performed in the Emergency Department

This position requires independent judgments in planning and maintaining total medical care for a patient covering a broad scope of duties and complexity. Responsibilities include:
• Work with Emergency Physicians in the evaluation and diagnosis of medical illnesses and traumatic injuries
• Select, order and interpret ancillary tests appropriate to the condition of the patient.
• Document the pertinent history, physical exam, ancillary tests and a differential diagnosis for each case.
• Perform procedures to include but not limited to:
a. Wound repair
b. Arthrocentesis
c. Splint placement
d. Reduction of dislocations
• Prescribe medications appropriate to the condition
• Participate in the education of learners in the Emergency Department
• Participate in research performed in the Emergency Department
• Projects and assignments as needed.
• Performs initial patient evaluations, perform history and physical exams
• Work closely with Emergency Physicians in the evaluation and diagnosis of medical illnesses and traumatic injuries while developing treatment plans and final disposition.
• Select, order and interpret ancillary tests appropriate to the condition of the patient and formulate a treatment plan using evidence-based medical and nursing care.
• Document pertinent history, physical exam, ancillary tests and a differential diagnosis for each case.
• Document in a timely manner
• Participate in clinical/departmental process improvement and the implementation of activities that improve or maintain quality of care.
• Participate in the education of learners in the Emergency Department
• Participate in research performed in the Emergency Department
• Projects and assignments as needed.
Three years previous experience in Urgent Care or Emergency Department setting preferred.

Qualifications

Requires an Advanced degree from an accredited APP (NP or PA) training program Licensure and Certifications. Must be North Carolina license. Board certification if required by the Department.
