Job Description

The primary purpose of this full time position is to provide direct patient care which may include detailed or brief histories and physical examinations, medical and nursing diagnosis, development of treatment plans, prescription of medications and radiographic/laboratory testing, and designated medical procedures.Work will also include coordination of complex multidisciplinary care, with medical and radiation oncology, and coordination of tumor boards with nurse navigators.The APPs are first line for symptom management and complication triage of patients in surgical oncology. This position will also be the first line management of postoperative patients, especially when surgeons are in the OR. The position will help schedule follow up procedures and ancillary patient needs allowing the surgeon to operate. Provides education, counseling and support to surgical oncology patients and families either directly or through referral to the appropriate departmental or community resources. This position will function in a collaborative role with clinic staff to provide comprehensive, quality and cost effective care to the surgical oncology patient. Serves as a liaison between patients, families, outside agencies and referring physicians to facilitate continuity of care.

The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.


Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider  in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department.
