Description of Job Responsibilities:
This position works within the UNC Faculty Physicians Benefits Office.
1.Benefit Consulting and Collaboration: Provide benefits related counseling and education to Clinical Faculty, Health Care Executives, Clinical Fellows, dependents and retirees. Apply knowledge of benefit plans and programs, and applicable federal and state laws as well as University, UNC Faculty Physician, and Clinical Fellows policies, practices and procedures as they relate to and govern the plans. The Benefits Analyst will be required to offer an Executive level of customer service in a high touch, high service focused environment. The Benefits Analyst researches and facilitates issues that occur to an employee’s benefit elections and works across business streams and with various vendors to provide successful outcomes. The Benefits Analyst acts as a liaison with the University and Health Care System HR staff and various state agencies. This position assists with developing and updating communication materials and prepares reports as needed.
2.Communication: Engage with benefit and retirement plan vendors to develop and deliver effective and timely communications. Develop, plan, and facilitate workshops, and training sessions for delivery to peers, campus HR resources, Faculty and staff; deploy a variety of media to ensure adequate coverage of all audience types and learning styles. Facilitate and assist with new hire orientation, including one on one orientations for all Executives, Chairs, and other Clinical Faculty on a per needed basis.
3.Benefit Programs Enrollment: Participates in various aspects of the annual benefits open enrollment process. Responsible for Faculty Physician benefit plan election entry in HRIS. Responsible for monitoring output reports created by the Clinical Fellow’s demographic and payroll file feeds to and from benefit administrator. Make appropriate updates in HRIS or benefit administrator system for Clinical Fellow population. Coordinates with Business Analysts, Payroll, and other business units to ensure deductions are correct for benefit plans.
Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
If a Bachelor's degree: No prior experience required.
If an Associate's degree: Four (4) years of relevant experience.
If a High School diploma or GED: Eight (8) years of relevant experience.
