Job Description

This position is located in the Outpatient Clinic. The primary purpose of this full time position in Psychiatry is to provide routine patient care within a clinical setting. Work is supervised by a physician and involves assisting physicians with collecting and processing specimens, performing selective tests and performing related administrative activities.

Employee will plan and organize patient care in the clinic. Duties include escorting patients to their destination(s), taking vital signs, assessing allergies, and documenting findings in computerized records. Also includes obtaining urine specimens ordered and labeling them accurately and sending them to appropriate lab. Provides back-up for all front desk operations including patient check-in, patient check-out, collecting and posting payments, ordering labs, scheduling follow-up appointments, and answering and routing phone calls. Performs office duties such as taking inventory, re-stocking items, and ordering supplies.


Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) OR meets the work eligibility (employed as a medical assistant for a minimum of five out of the last seven years, no more than two years of which may have been as an instructor in a post- secondary medical assistant program. Work experience must include both clinical and administrative duties) required by American Medical Technologists (AMT).


Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA).
