Job Description

Position: Physician Compliance Analyst, Sr.
Location: Hedrick Building, Chapel Hill
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
This position may involve support of various hospitals and health care systems within the UNC Health Care System, but will be employed by Rex Hospital, Inc. (this includes, but is not limited to, for purposes of payroll, health benefits, retirement options, and applicable policies). Employees of an entity managed by UNC Health Care are external candidates and will be employed by Rex Hospital, Inc. if selected for the role. 
  • Responsible for assisting Compliance management in compliance activities which could include reviewing internal processes, documents and reports, and ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory framework.
  • Serves as a resource to physicians, providers, and coders across UNC REX Health Care.
  • Performs Auditing and Monitoring of coding and billing to ensure correct coding and billing compliance.
  • Analyzes audit findings and reports/tracks results for one-on-one or group feedback.
  • Provides one-on-one-or group education.
  • Provides communication of audit findings to department leadership as directed by management.
  • The auditor should be familiar with basic clinical documentation and charge capture methodologies.
  • Performs investigations and special projects as directed by Compliance management.
  • Provides courtesy and friendly service and develops productive working relationships with all levels of management, staff and providers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Health Administration, Nursing or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).

 
If a Bachelor's degree: Three (3) years of experience in business, health care, coding, revenue cycle, legal, regulatory compliance, or a supervisory role in Revenue Cycle or HIM.
 
If an Associate's degree: Seven (7) years of experience in business, health care, coding, revenue cycle, legal, regulatory compliance, or a supervisory role in Revenue Cycle or HIM.
 
If a High School diploma or GED: Eleven (11) years of experience in business, health care, coding, revenue cycle, legal, regulatory compliance, or a supervisory role in Revenue Cycle or HIM.
 
Coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS-P).
