UNC Medical Center is seeking an experienced project manager to lead development and operationalization of a new proton beam therapy center. This role, reporting directly to UNC Hospitals Senior Vice President of Operations, will direct and manage this high-profile project from beginning to end with an emphasis on successful completion within the given deadline and budget. The project manager will be responsible for development of full-scale project plans, financial plans, quality audit follow ups, and associated communications documents.
Central to the role will be coordination of multiple work streams with both internal and external partners and covering pre-construction activities, construction, finance, commercial payor contracting, and operations of a proton center as part of a major cancer center.
Description of Job Responsibilities:
Develop project plans, goals, and budgets. Identify resources needed, develop schedules and methods for measuring results while maintaining optimum working relationships with all internal and external partners, including government and commercial entities.
Organize/manage all phases of the project to achieve schedule, cost, and performance objectives, while maintaining the overall scope of the project.
Plan and oversee the preparation and dissemination of project communications. Communicate with top-level management, project sponsors, and functional area managers/directors regarding status of the project. Produce project reports for the project sponsors and senior management.
Coordinate effort and manage relationships with vendors and contractors necessary.
Keep senior management informed of project(s) status and any potential problems or political concerns.
Conduct all necessary meetings to facilitate selection of project services and products. Assemble project team members, assign individual responsibilities, and monitor project performance.
Perform strategic analysis for the project and develop objective means or status reports for assessing the status of the projects that are consistent with standard skills of project managers.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field. Five (5) years of professional experience in project management related experience. If Master's degree, two (2) years of professional experience in project management related experience.
