Job Description

RN needed forCardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.  


The CTICU is part of the UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care whose mission is to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the care of patients with cardiothoracic and vascular disease.  We are currently a 16 bed intensive care unit specializing in the treatment of post-surgical cardiothoracic and vascular patients. Our primary surgical procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair/replacements, heart transplants, lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, aortic/thoracic aneurysm repairs, and complicated esophageal, thoracic and vascular surgeries. CTICU nurses are educated to successfully manage and care for patients with advanced hemodynamic monitoring and supportive devices such as pulmonary artery catheters, temporary and permanent pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pumps and continuous renal replacement therapy. The CTICU is a dynamic work environment which relies on a highly motivated staff that displays exceptional team work.

Experience in cardiothoracic specialty is preferred but not required. Our orientation program is tailored to your existing skills and experience with supplemental and specialty courses to expand your knowledge.

This is a 36 hour/week position, day/night rotation with some weekends, flexible self scheduling.  This position offers a generous benefit package.

Qualifications

Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. One (1) year of nursing experience. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

 

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
