RN-CLINICAL NURSE IV
Scheduled Work Hours: Full-time, 40-Hour Per Week Position with call and occasional weekends.
The UNC Hospitals Perioperative Services Pre-op/Post Operative Unit is Clinical Nurse IV to join our postoperative department. We welcome someone who is energetic, flexible, patient-driven, and an effective communicator. We are currently experiencing exciting times planning for the future of Perioperative services and a new facility. We welcome creativity and a passion for the job.
We have 26 PACU bays, 6 Holding area bays, and perform 27,000 cases per year. Cases include robotics, minimally invasive, transplants, open hearts and traumas.
Our ideal candidate will possess considerable knowledge of critical care procedures, able to adapt to change, maintain a safe environment, ability to work independently as well as on teams, and effectively care for our patients and their families.
The Clinical Nurse IV (CN IV) practices at the level of an expert practitioner of nursing. The nurse at this level demonstrates caring for patients with multiple and complex problems. In addition to demonstrating clinical leadership on the unit, the CN IV acts as a resource of staff and participates in endeavors to increase nursing knowledge. The CN IV reports to the nurse manager.
ACLS and PALS required by end of 9 month probationary period
40hr/week Primarily day/evening but will work weekends/nights to meet the needs of the department
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. Eighteen (18) months of professional nursing experience in a tertiary care setting to include didactic and clinical experience in the area of assignment preferably with charge and precepting experience in the area of assignment.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
Professional certification relevant to the practice area and on the ANCC Magnet approved list within the probationary period of employment.
