New Graduate RN needed for Cardiothoracic ICU for Fall 2019

This opportunity is for new graduate RN’s who are currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. 

The Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) is part of the UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care whose mission is to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the care of patients with cardiothoracic and vascular disease. We are a 16 bed intensive care unit specializing in the treatment of post-surgical cardiothoracic and vascular patients. Our primary surgical procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair/replacements, heart transplants, lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, aortic/thoracic aneurysm repairs, and complicated esophageal, thoracic and vascular surgeries. CTICU nurses are educated to successfully manage and care for patients with advanced hemodynamic monitoring and supportive devices such as pulmonary artery catheters, temporary and permanent pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pumps and continuous renal replacement therapy. The CTICU is a dynamic work environment which relies on a highly motivated staff that displays exceptional team work.


Seeking New Grad RN's with previous inpatient Nursing Assistant experience, ideally in a critical care or emergency department.   

New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.


This position is 36 hours/week, day/night and weekend rotation, with flexible self-scheduling to meet the individual and department needs. 

Qualifications

Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

 

Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina by the first day of clinical care. Current healthcare provider Basic Life Support/CPR certification required.
