PHARMACY TRANSITION SPECIALIST
LOCATION: Shared Services Center / Durham & Main Hospital / Chapel Hill
HOURS: Full Time, 40 hrs/wk; Monday---Friday; 8:00AM—4:30PM


Multiple positions/areas of coverage available:
• Prescription Benefits Program
• Medical Benefits Program
• Infectious Diseases Clinic
• Adult Oncology Clinic
• Pharmacy Assistance Program

Duties:
The team is seeking an individual knowledgeable about pharmacy and manufacturer assistance programs, insurance coverage (limitations, requirements, eligibility, formularies, prior authorizations, benefits investigations, etc.), available community and national resources, ICD-10 codes, and determinants of financial need. Additionally, this individual should display an understanding of pharmaceutical terminology (brand, generic, dose, route, etc.). The MAP specialist will work closely with pharmacy staff, clinic staff, and financial counselors to obtain the appropriate clinical and financial information for any available assistance programs. Specialists are also responsible for providing patients and clinicians with accurate and up to date information regarding assistance programs, insurance eligibility, government subsides, as well as maintaining a database with accurate patient and assistance program information.

Qualifications

Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician Program (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience). All new hires not currently enrolled in a pharmacy school are required to have their certification as a pharmacy technician. 

 

If completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program: No prior experience required.

 

If a High School diploma or GED: Two (2) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
