Job Description

Responsible for providing leadership in the development and execution of HR strategy in support of all HR related strategies that support organizational goals and effectiveness. This position establishes and implements HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the hospital’s strategic plan. Directs a team of leaders in HR, organizational development, employee health and volunteer services. Responsible for compliance in all areas of federal, state, local laws, and Joint Commission requirements in relation to Human Resources.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

1. HR Strategic Business Partner – Develops and leads the Human Resource strategies, including plans, policies and systems, to support the mission and strategy of the syst. Leads the strategy behind the development of a robust workforce plan for the long-term future of the hospital. Benchmarks the broader healthcare industry to stay current on trends affecting the talent pipeline. Actively participates as a member of the executive team on strategic business direction of the organization. Operates as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing advice and counsel to all members of the executive team on organizational and people issues. Identifies and mitigates risk across the system related to all aspects of talent, health and workforce safety issues and ensures appropriate compliance with federal and state employment laws. Leads continuous improvement to enhance HR value and establish data metrics.

2. Leading People- Leads people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Provides an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive resolution of conflicts. Encourages workforce engagement by building a commitment to excellence and by promoting the organization's vision internally and externally. Delegates’ responsibility clarifies expectations and holds others accountable for achieving results related to their area of responsibility. Leads in a deliberate and predictable way and operates with transparency. Treats sensitive or confidential information appropriately. Develops the ability of others to perform and contribute to the organization by providing ongoing feedback and by providing opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods. Manages and resolves conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.

3. Leading Change –Acts as a catalyst for organizational change. Influences others to translate vision into action. Brings about strategic change, both within and outside the organization, to meet organizational goals. Establishes an organizational vision and implements it in a continuously changing environment. Formulates objectives and priorities, and implements plans consistent with the long-term interests of the organization. Capitalizes on opportunities and manages risks. 4. Results Driven – Exceeds departmental and organizational goals and customer expectations. Makes decisions that produce high-quality results by applying knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks. Delivers high-quality services and demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement. Understands the overall financial performance of the organization and applies financial concepts and practices to establish and maintain realistic budgets. Uses financial information to monitor overall financial status of operations.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:
■ Master’s Degree in appropriate discipline.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

■ SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or CHHR preferred

Professional Experience Requirements:
■ Ten (10) years of experience in Human Resources, including eight (8) years management experience over a full service human resource function.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
■ Relationships: Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships and communications with teammates, leaders, executives, board members, patients, and general public.

■ Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, and policies related to specialized expertise.
