Job Description

The Director of Quality and Clinical Outcomes is responsible for the management, planning, directing, analyzing, and communicating all Hospital Quality activities. The position establishes and maintains the objectives and strategy for the department in order to effectively contribute to executing the overarching UNC Lenoir Health Care strategic plan. This position directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of hospital wide improvement activities. The Director is the primary contact for improvement initiatives and data reporting. This position also directs process improvement activities and is responsible for all organizationally focused activities including but not limited to CMS QAPI and components related to CMS Conditions of Participation, Hospital Quality Reporting regulatory submissions to CMS, (mortality, reduction, readmission reduction, safety of care, complications), Nursing Sensitive Indicators, and other registry, internal and external database management, and quality analytics.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; MSN preferred

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years in health care including a combination of clinical nursing and quality improvement with at least 5 years of management experience.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
Current license to practice Nursing in the State of North Carolina.

OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with health care incentive and public reporting programs including CMS VBP, HAC, MU, HRRP, 5 Star reporting, Leapfrog Survey and Hospital Safety Score.
  • Extensive experience in health analytics including data analysis, reporting, relational database design, development of predictive analytics model.
  • Detailed understanding of hospital, clinical staff, medical supplies, department functions, and experience with hospital information systems including decision support.
  • Experience with project management processes with demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, interpret a variety of data, test model assumptions and instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
