Registered Dietitian Level I
Primary responsibilities include providing medical nutrition therapy (individually or in a group setting) utilizing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) for patients in UNCPN Clinics covering a wide variety of health conditions (hypertension, diabetes, obesity, renal disease, GI diseases, hyperlipidemia, pediatric weight management, wellness). Works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other care team members, to improve patient outcomes and close gaps in care.
Other duties may be assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree at US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required; Master’s degree preferred. Completion of a Coordinated Program in Dietetics or Dietetic Internship accredited by ACEND of no less than 900 hours (1200 hours for graduates of programs beginning 2012)
• Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Licensed as a Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics and Nutrition
Professional Experience Requirements
• Two (2) years as a RD in a clinical setting or one (1) year of nutrition experience in a primary care setting.
