Job DescriptionJob Summary: Day Shift
Performs analysis and reports test results within department standards and hospital policies and procedures. Utilizes knowledge to investigate unusual findings and solve problems.
Essential Job Functions:

Performs laboratory procedures accurately and thoroughly. Follows laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test samples, reporting and record maintenance. Utilizes knowledge to investigate unusual findings, solve problems and make decisions. Effectively uses work time to accomplish the required workload in a timely manner. Adheres to Q.C. policies; documents all Q.C. / P.I. activities. Assists with phlebotomy and clerical duties as needed. Performs additional duties.
Education and formal training:
(MLT) Associate degree in Physical, Chemical or Biological Science from an approved school of medical Laboratory Technicians with MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent. May have passed the HHS (Health and Human Services) certification exam or have military certification.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
Must have an understanding of medical terminology. Must be able to perform repetitive procedures at laboratory bench. Must be able to coordinate workload, departmental activities and trouble shoot instrument problems with little supervision.
Must be able to see test instruments and results, be able to effectively operate test equipment and be able to speak and hear for communication with patients, hospital personnel, etc. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
