This position may involve support of various hospitals and health care systems within the UNC Health Care System, but will be employed by Rex Hospital, Inc. (this includes, but is not limited to, for purposes of payroll, health benefits, retirement options, and applicable policies)
This positon reports to the manager of data solutions for enterprise analytics, supporting the creation of enterprise wide analytics data assets. Functioning as a liaison between project stakeholders and IT, the Data Developer helps develop unique and innovative enterprise wide analytics solutions that deliver actionable information to the business with a high degree of impact. This role brings deep expertise in gathering business requirements, writing technical and function specifications, identifying appropriate data sources and defining user stories that will help implement our analytics capabilities. The developer must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills as they often analyze data sets and/or metrics to troubleshoot and trace data issues to a root cause.
Design: Responsible for a full range of activities that are required to deliver business and clinical valued analytics and reporting solutions to the enterprise. These activities include requirements definition, data source exploration and data lineage mappings. Interacts with the health care business and clinical area(s), application experts, and other projects and programs within the organization to ensure data assets provided meet the long-term business strategies. By conducting business and systems process analysis, identify, create and facilitate design changes that focus on data quality improvement and data management.
Governance and Documentation: Responsible for working with our data governance team to update the enterprise data catalog and certify analytics assets. Develops and documents functional technical designs such as data mapping documents, data flow diagrams, gap analysis and logical data diagrams.
Testing and Troubleshooting: Ensures design quality by creating, conducting, and documenting testing. Identifies technical roadblocks and troubleshoots and resolves functional and performance related issues. Collaborate closely with developers to implement the requirements, provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process.
Technical Support & Expertise: Works closely with teams to identify and advise strategic product decisions. Provides support by analyzing reported defects and replicating/fixing the defects. Acts as a resource for team members in translating business needs into functional designs.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or a quantitative-related field.
No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
If a Bachelor’s degree: Seven (7) years of experience in software and/or analytical development.
If a Master’s degree: Five (5) years of relevant experience in software and/or analytical development.
If a Doctorate degree: Three (3) years of relevant experience in software and/or analytical development.
Prior experience analyzing healthcare-related clinical, financial, and/or administrative data and experience in developing complex reports utilizing drill down, drill through, and sub reports using business intelligence technologies (e.g., Business Objects, Crystal Reports). High proficiency in SQL Query programming such as stored procedures, functions, temporary tables, parameterization, complex joins and groupings.

Detailed knowledge of health care-related clinical, financial, claims, and administrative business processes, their associated data, and their reporting and analytical needs.
Requires prior experience in developing complex reports utilizing drill down, drill through, and sub reports using business intelligence technologies (e.g., Tableau, Business Objects)
High proficiency in SQL Query programming such as stored procedures, functions, temporary tables, parameterization, complex joins and groupings.
Prior experience with data virtualization.
Excellent analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities.
Strong database understanding and familiarity with complex data and structures; prior experience with Hana preferredGood communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with developers, analysts, and staff throughout the organization.
Ability to express complex technical information in a user-friendly language and style.
Presents information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings, including executive management.
Ability to communicate clearly in writing to document data requirements and translate into technical solutions.

Prior experience in agile develop methods (e.g., Scrum) preferred
