Job Description

Position: Clinical Care Assistant

The Rex Surgical Specialists Department is looking for a candidate with exceptional customer service and organizational skills to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of a Clinical Care Assistant which include:

-Performing activities to maintain an environment of safety, comfort and privacy for patients, self and others
-Scheduling outpatient testing and procedures
-Obtaining authorizations for procedures, medications and tests
-Assisting in the completion of insurance, disability and FMLA forms 
-Faxing and mailing correspondences 
-Preparing the patient charts for next day appointments
-Escorting patients to and from exam rooms
-Obtaining or verifying complete patient demographic information from customers 
-Collecting and recording patient data such as their height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature
-Communicating pertinent patient information to the appropriate people
-Performing visual and hearing screenings and assisting the physicians/nurses with other selected treatments and procedures within the scope of practice as a Nursing Assistant
-Preparing patients for exams and providing assistance to the physicians 
-Maintaining a clean, safe and stocked environment by cleaning and restocking exam rooms and cleaning the equipment on a daily basis


It is required that the candidate have a High School Diploma or a GED but a college degree is preferred. Candidate must have completed an accredited Nursing Assistant Training Program and be listed with the Nurse Aide Registry in the Department of Facility Services. Candidate must also have one (1) year of related experience or training, previous healthcare experience with exposure to patient registration and/or scheduling and computer data entry and typing experience. Furthermore, the candidate must have a Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (BCLS) and be registered as a Nursing Assistant I.

It is preferred that the candidate have previous Nursing Assistant experience and experience with medical terminology.
