Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
Is responsible for the total cleanliness of assigned areas to include: patient rooms, patient care areas, hallways, lobbies, lounges, break rooms, rest rooms, corridors and all other areas to ensure that health standards are met.
Conducts detailed cleaning to include: dusting, polishing metalwork, cleaning of all surfaces, emptying trash/waste and disposing of trash/waste properly. Ensures patient rooms are cleaned for admissions and discharges, ensuring that infection control protocols are met.
Moves furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning and care functions.
Responds to the bed management system in a timely manner; thoroughly washes beds and mattresses; remakes beds after dismissal of patients.
Transports broken or repaired beds to designated areas throughout the hospital.
Picks up and removes hazardous articles which, may be on floors, furniture, and equipment and places them in designated receptacles or in appropriate places.
Maintains equipment; ensuring equipment is clean and in working order; assures supplies are adequate. Keeps storage areas and carts well stocked, clean and tidy. Informs supervisor of needed supplies.
Observes and participates in all hospital-required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control Practices; wears prescribed protective gear (i.e. gloves, goggles) appropriate to the assignment; reports unusual incidents with emphasis on safety and maintenance.
Works successfully as part of a team and is responsible for developing and then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.
Plans/organizes work for assigned shift to properly utilize time, resources and supplies and to ensure work assignments are completed in a timely manner.
Attends staff meetings and completes all training as required.
Performs special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training.
