Job Description

Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.

Starts systems, observes operations, reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such valves, fans, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, humidity and temperature in system.

Interprets blueprints, schematics, manufacturer's specifications, and written and verbal instructions on all HVAC/R systems and equipment.

Charges all types of refrigeration equipment, solders and brazes materials as needed.

Calibrates and balances all HVAC equipment and systems as needed.

Screws, bolts, rivets, and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, dryer cores, expansion valves and piping.

Charges specified gas or fluid into system in accordance to EPA approved refrigerant certification programs.

Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components.

Focus on patient/staff safety needs, as set forth in the Rex Patient Safety Plan, the Environment of Care Manual and our Departmental Procedure Manual.


Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in this particular field or a certificate from a college or technical school in a technical field.

Education: High School diploma or GED

Licensure: CFC and HVAC Journeyman preferred
