Job Description

Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.

Coordinates clinic services in the NC Surgery Rex Bariatrics clinic to achieve continuous service and optimal patient care.

Maintains liaison with professional medical staff and NC Surgery Rex Bariatrics management in administrating policies and procedures regarding patient flow and utilization of space, time, supplies, and equipment. Develops policies and procedures to improve patient care and utilization of clinic resources.

Establishes clear communications and builds positive relationships with patients, physicians, directors, peers and staff. Promotes service excellence by serving as a role model for staff. Keeps Practice Administrator informed of possible staff / patient issues.

Maintains interface with physicians, patients and administrative staff to provide information and to resolve problems relating to clinic services.

Uses critical thinking skills to analyze emergent situations and establish a plan of care. Collaborates with MD/Advanced Practitioners on decision making. 

Assists in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures including OSHA and other regulatory standards. 

Coordinates treatment activities of the clinic and services of other departments to ensure effective patient care and efficient service.

Establishes education clinics for NC Surgery Rex Bariatrics patients. 

Serves as a clinical and management resource for decision making, problem solving, and employee performance reviews. Acts as liaison between staff, physicians, and management.

Plans and schedules work for medical support staff ensuring proper distribution of assignments and ensuring adequate staffing. Plans and provides a weekly staff schedule and revises as needed. Approves leave and vacation time for staff, while being mindful of schedules and clinic flow.

Orients and trains new medical support staff. Monitors staff training and hands-on instruction for new equipment, procedures, and software.

Delivers patient care and maintains skills and competencies of the Staff RN at the Advanced Contributor level, including age appropriate competencies. Responsible for checking emergency box, suction, and defibrillator daily and maintaining records.

Coordinates Quantros reporting to ensure variances are completed in a timely manner and assists staff with completion as needed.


Three years of nursing experience in bariatrics practice.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
