Summary:
The University of North Carolina Hospitals and Clinics Department of Pharmacy’s Acute Care Services Team has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual interested in providing patient care to our inpatient psychiatry patients and behavioral health emergency medicine patients. The primary practice sites for this position include the Psychiatric Emergency Service located in the Emergency Department (ED) at UNC Hospitals and the UNC Neurosciences Hospital. The Psychiatric Emergency Service provides psychiatric assessment and triage of patients presenting to the ED in crisis, which includes acute suicidality, psychosis, intoxication, and ingestions. The UNC Neurosciences Hospital contains 76 inpatient psychiatric beds. The UNC Neurosciences Hospital is an integral partner in UNC’s mission to serve the people of North Carolina. Inpatient care focuses on several patient populations including: Adult Psychotic Unit, Geropsychiatry Unit, Eating Disorders Unit, Crisis Unit, Child Psychiatry Unit, Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, and Peripartum Unit.
The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist in Psychiatry will provide pharmacotherapy services, medication profile review, response to drug information questions, order verification, problem resolution, transitions of care, patient counseling, and distributive functions as needed. This individual will play an active role in the transition of care process, primarily focusing on medication reconciliation and patient counseling. In addition, this person will work closely with other members the Department of Pharmacy to address any needs that might arise and that require this person’s qualifications and expertise. There are also opportunities to precept pharmacy students as a part of the institution’s relationship with the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. The hours of this position will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with a weekend rotation. These hours may change if needed based on operational needs.

● Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in NC. Licensure from NC Board of Pharmacy required within 6 months of orientation date or sooner if required for operations.
