Summary:
Designs and analyzes system/functional specifications to ensure they achieve user requirements to meet the primary objective, are compatible with existing systems and conform to published standards as appropriate.


Responsibilities:
1. Designs and analyzes system/functional specifications to ensure they achieve user requirements to meet the primary objective, are compatible with existing systems and conform to published standards as appropriate.
2. Coordinates with IT staff all interfaces, changes of screens, addition of new procedures.
3. Reviews and documents detailed description of user needs, system capability/function, and steps required to develop or modify computer database.
4. Evaluates effectiveness of existing information processing systems and works closely with users to recommend new systems and/or upgrades to improve production or workflow as required.
5. Prepares reports, workflow diagrams and instructional manuals as documentation of program development and operations to be performed by personnel.
6. Provides training of all Diagnostic Services Information systems. Ensures that maximum system benefit is achieved. Coordinates with vendors concerning introduction of various modalities to the PACS. Monitors archive storage of PACS. Provides on-call 24/7 support during off-hours for PACS / RIS/ Cardiology PACS. Works closely with vendor applications engineer regarding system maintenance.
7. Upgrades PACS, RIS, and Cardiology PACS and corrects errors to maintain system after implementation.
8. Provides training to end users on RIS. Works with Business Analyst in IT to schedule RIS system downtime, upgrades, and support.
9. Assists in resolution of production problems; modifies tables/profiles for resolution.
10. Generates reports utilizing enterprise reporting software for users and management. Provides training to select end users in report generation.
11. Maintain PACS hardware in Diagnostic Services area to include, implementing new, installing software, video cards, and configuration to allow for optimal end user image interpretation.
12. Serve on hospital information system committees, including the Imaging Informatics Committee.
13. Work closely with chargemaster committee to develop proper charging of exams. Assist in the resolution of billing issues in conjunction with Patient Accounting and the Diagnostic Departments

● Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● None required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● If a Bachelor's degree, three (3) years experience in healthcare or information services required. Prior radiology experience strongly preferred. Prior RIS or PACS experience preferred.
● If an Associate's degree, seven (7) years experience in healthcare or information services required. Prior radiology experience strongly preferred. Prior RIS or PACS experience preferred.
● If a high school diploma, eleven (11) years experience in healthcare or information services required. Prior radiology experience strongly preferred. Prior RIS or PACS experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
