Nursing Education Coordinator opportunity

This role will be a supervisor for nursing educators, oversight of policies, leading educators and programming within Center of Nursing Excellence and as assigned.

The Nurse Education Coordinator is responsible for supervising and overseeing the development, coordination, and evaluation of educational programs for nursing/clinical staff within the Association Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards. This position develops programs to keep existing staff up-to-date, acts as general resource for nursing professional development, supports transitions into practice, and ensures that programming is aligned with regulatory and quality initiatives. This person is responsible to collaborate with human resources, accreditation, and other hospital departments to ensure onboarding, competencies, and continuing education is updated and reflect current regulatory requirements, evidence and practice trends. 


 1. Coordinates and provides oversight of all classes given by the department and establishes priorities for courses, classes, and professional development. The coordinator establishes the dates for the courses based on identified need, communicates the availability of the courses & identifies the faculty and curriculum for the courses. The coordinator also analyzes the evaluation data for effective teaching strategies & opportunities for improvement. The coordinator organizes revision of courses as needed & works with staff for needs assessment of new curriculum content or additional related courses. 2. Supervises staff within the Center for Nursing Excellence with responsibilities that include hiring, monitoring & guidance to staff in the areas of performance, counseling & disciplinary actions as needed. Provides guidance on professional development for staff. Provides administrative & programmatic guidance to staff in the associate director's absence. Facilitates the work of specialized nursing/clinical education providers for specific programs & job classes to ensure programs meet nursing/clinical staff education needs. Assesses program effectiveness for accuracy of content, evidence-based content & standards & outcomes of programs. Utilize needs assessment data to determine future programming & evaluation data to determine the need for revisions in programming. 3. The coordinator assists with overseeing clinical placement with various schools of nursing and/or medical. Ensures that placements are evaluated and supports the evaluation of performance and operational issues. 4. The coordinator acts as a liason between the Center of Nursing Excellence and other nursing education teams in developing content for nursing/clinical documentation related to the provision of care. The coordinator ensures that program content meets regulatory, quality and evidence-based standards of care. The coordinator is inclusive in his/her work with others to ensure that input into new programming encompasses the appropriate patient populations. 5. Research, Policies and Procedures- Evaluates current research to maintain knowledge of practice trends. Guides the development and revision of standards, guidelines, policies and procedures for the Department of Nursing. Facilitates the dissemination of practice changes through Nursing Policy Committee(s), leadership teams and the Shared Governance Councils. Develops and maintains relationships with faculty and students from nursing and other clinical disciplines.

Education Requirements:
● Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
● Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Five (5) years of experience in tertiary care with three (3) years clinical experience in the assigned specialty.
