Summary:

The UNC Health Foundation seeks an Executive Director of Development to lead philanthropic efforts at UNC Rex Hospital.  Principal responsibilities will include
creating a strategic development plan to engage donors  through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of private gifts. The position will include metric-driven financial targets commensurate with the overarching team goal. The Executive Director of Development is expected to build, replenish and carry a portfolio of 100 major and principal gift prospects/donors and will be required to meet the standard visit, proposal and commitment metrics as set forth by the UNC Health Foundation.  Experience with principal and major gifts, planned giving, and annual giving is required. The ability to build and maintain an active portfolio comprised of qualified prosects and donors is required. The ability to interact, engage and coordinate with the UNC Rex Hospital President, Leadership Team, Physicians, Nurses and Staff on priority programs and strategically solicit gifts for these programs is expected.   Candidate must demonstrate the ability to always maintain confidentiality regarding Personal Health Information (PHI) thus protecting the lawful privacy of colleagues and donors.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with Foundation and Hospital leadership identify, key philanthropic funding priorities for UNC Rex.
  • Develop and implement an annual plan to secure major ($100K+) and principal ($5M+) gifts in support of the identified priorities.
  • Build a pipeline of grateful patient prospects by engaging and training clinicians, administrators, volunteers and others in the grateful patient process.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward existing donors and prospects to ensure successful completion of the annual plan.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Advanced certification (CFRE) preferred.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Requires 7 (seven) years of progressively responsible experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Ability to communicate ideas and solutions in a clear, concise manner. Identifies problem areas and skill gaps proactively and addresses them appropriately. Excellent project management and change management skills for designing and implementing high priority department initiatives in a complex environment.
