Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics seeks an experienced research administrator with strong leadership skills to oversee research administration for the Department’s Children's Research Institute (CRI). CRI supports internal and external departmental Investigators and currently has more than 50 active awards including federal, foundation and industry sponsored grants and clinical trials. This position will enforce departmental standards, policies and controls related to Sponsored Research in collaboration with the Director of Research Administration. In order to assure Departmental compliance this position is responsible for oversight of CRI research budget development, proposal submission, research salary implementation, effort allocation and reporting, cost-sharing and cost-matching, account management and financial reporting and will additionally focus on the development of clinical trials in the CRI and across the Department. This position will supervise one full-time accounting specialist providing post-award administrative support to CRI and additional research administrators as CRI grows. 

Preferred Skills: 

The selected candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines and capable of managing competing priorities and projects. The candidate should possess superior written and oral communication and strong interpersonal skills as significant and frequent interface with internal and external stakeholders, including University research office personnel, clinical faculty and staff, faculty investigators, and sponsor representatives, is a large component of the position. Additionally, candidate should have recent administrative management experience in a large, diverse clinical-academic setting and a demonstrated ability to work independently with limited guidance. Preference will be given to Certified Research Administrators (CRAs) as well to those who have experience in budgeting and negotiating with industry sponsors for clinical trials. Advanced Excel skills are strongly desired.
