Summary:

The UNC Faculty Physicians (FP) Associate Vice President of Operations (Outpatient) will assist the UNC Faculty Physicians Vice President of Operations in the strategic leadership and operations of outpatient services at UNC Medical Center. This position works closely with hospital and Faculty Physician leadership to set the strategic direction of outpatient services at UNC Medical Center, establishes annual performance goals and priorities, and monitor and manage results of individual practices and service lines. The role will be a member of the Medical Center’s leadership team, providing interface between hospital senior executives and outpatient leaders. This position reports to the UNC FP Vice President of Operations responsible for UNC FP outpatient services. This position will work closely with UNC FP Physician leadership, including clinical department Chairs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Outpatient Leadership- Coordinating with the VP of Operations and the COO of UNC FP, this role will establish and monitor outpatient goals and metrics to ensure alignment of Medical Center operations with UNC Health Care System goals and to ensure optimal and consistent patient experience in all UNC Medical Center FP outpatient practices. The position will have responsibility for patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction, patient safety, and financial performance for a large group of outpatient practices. In addition, the role will have matrix authority with other senior outpatient leaders for all UNC Medical Center outpatient practices.
  • Leading Change- The positon will act as a catalyst for organizational change across outpatient areas and as a key liaison between UNC FP outpatient areas and other functional areas of the Medical Center (inpatient units, procedural areas, emergency department). Demands of population health and increased patient expectations around access to and quality of outpatient services require development of a culture of change and ongoing improvement in outpatient operations. The positon will be responsible, along with other senior outpatient leaders, for creating that culture of change and improvement and managing numerous initiatives simultaneously. 
  • Leading People- Leads people toward meeting the organization’s vision, mission, and goals. Qualifications

Education Requirements:
● Requires Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● No licensure or certification required. Registered Nursing License in the state of North Carolina preferred.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Requires 10 years of progressively responsible experience and 7 years of management experience. Nursing leadership experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Ability to communicate ideas and solutions in a clear, concise manner. Identifies problem areas and skill gaps proactively and addresses them appropriately. Excellent project management and change management skills for designing and implementing high priority department initiatives in a complex environment.
