The Rehabilitation Services Department at UNC Rex Hospital, Raleigh NC is accepting applications for Mobility Technician. We are seeking certified Exercise Physiologists to fill this role. Mobility Technicians will get our patients up and participating in activities that maintain or improve their strength and independence during their stay in the hospital. This will involve close collaboration with the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, and Medical teams. Candidates should have a desire to work in a fast paced hospital setting, have good communication skills, and be physically capable of frequent walking and lifting activities.
1.Promote a culture of mobility for patients, family, and staff.
2.Seek medical clearance from the nurse prior to initiating activities, and follow up post session. Collaborate with Physical and Occupational Therapists to create a suitable routine, and avoid scheduling conflicts.
3.Physically assist or guide patients to sit, stand, walk, exercise, and participate in activities that promote their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
4.Assess when additional help or equipment is required to safely move a patient.
5.Maintain an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
6.Communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team.
7.Maintain an active CEP and BCLS certification as required.
● Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field.
● Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) within six (6) months from date of hire or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) certification by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) within six (6) months from date of hire.
● Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one (1) month from date of hire.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● One (1) year of experience working in a clinical exercise setting.
