Summary:
Ensures adequate staffing resources through clinical managers. Develops consistent policy and protocols for patient care. Ensures goal achievement with organizational strategies. Develops and articulates a departmental vision and expectations for performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensures adequate staffing resources through clinical managers. Develops consistent policy and protocols for patient care. Ensures goal achievement with organizational strategies. Develops and articulates a departmental vision and expectations for performance.
2. Prepares and manages departmental budgets. Recommends types and amount of resources required. Allocates resources based upon departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Develops Master Staffing Plan for all areas and participates in recruiting.
3. Reviews financial and operational data evaluating quality of service, workload, revenue and expenses. Takes corrective action as appropriate. Monitors salary and non-salary budget in all assigned areas.
4. Directs quality control and performance management and improvement activities within the departments.
5. Knowledgeable about current practices and standards in area of expertise and nursing practice. Utilizes knowledge to lead performance improvement activities. Leads efforts to improve operations and outcomes in patient care units.
6. Endorses and nurtures a collegial working relationship with physicians. Adheres to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics. Participates in performance improvement and quality improvement activities. Recognizes, supports and utilizes evidence based nursing practices and evidence based management practices. Participates/supports nursing shared governance activities.

Education Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in nursing, business, or related healthcare field
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Preferred: RN NC LIC;BCLS
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Five years related experience required with Bachelor's Degree. With Master's degree in nursing or business or dual degrees in same or related fields and three to five years related experience. Health care experience in clinical setting preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
