Summary:

The Billing Services Supervisor is responsible for supervising cash applications and billing functions. Key roles include performing extensive data mining, abstracting of financial and statistical information from various sources, developing scheduled reporting and ad hoc reporting, performing detail analysis of all types of revenue cycle reports.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervises Cash Applications Staff and manages the daily cash application process to include the reconciliation of cash while ensuring all cash, checks, and monies are posted timely and accurately on a daily basis.
2. Coaches and develops staff; leads pod meetings to help identify payor/department trends and facilitate cross-training between staff.
3. Conducts audits and ensure metrics are met for quality reviews & productivity.
4. Identifies opportunities for the development and implementation of new solutions to exceed customer/patient needs.
5. Assists staff on day-to-day operations by answering questions and troubleshooting issues around specific departments or payor claim populations.
6. Completes Annual Performance Evaluation for teammates reporting to Supervisor.
7. Communication of non-routine occurrences relating to daily activities to Director.
8. Establishes continuous training and learning opportunities for staff members.
9. Manages and monitors cash applications and accounts receivables ensuring timely and accurate posting and follow-up of accounts receivables work queues and other duties.
10. Reviews and approves adjustments and avoidable write-offs; determines methods to prevent denials/write-offs.
11. Ensures the protection of private health and personal information. Adheres to all HIPAA and PCI compliance regulations.
12. Prioritize department information needs, extracts financial and statistical data from various systems, manipulates data, creates customized reports, records and summarizes data into a usable format as requested by management.
13. Prepares scheduled reports (daily, weekly, and monthly); performs analysis of reports.
14. Assists in the development of tools, such as spreadsheet models that will enable department operate more effectively. Identifies opportunities to enhance processes and improve reimbursement. Identifies and pilots initiatives and assists in developing PFS operational improvements and plans.

Education Requirements:
● Associate Degree related to Health Care Management, Health Care Communications, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Information Systems or other related area required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Minimum of six (6) months prior experience as a supervisory or team leader required. Experience related to insurance, accounting, or financial analysis (Budgeting and forecasting and/or data gathering, financial analysis and reporting) preferred. Knowledge of EPIC or professional and hospital billing software related to registration, charge entry/billing and payment posting preferred.
