UNC Health is a not-for-profit integrated health care system owned by the state of North Carolina and based in Chapel Hill. Originally established Nov. 1, 1998, by N.C.G.S. 116-37, UNC Health currently comprises UNC Hospitals and its provider network, the clinical programs of the UNC School of Medicine, and sixteen hospitals and twenty hospital campuses statewide and more than 900 clinics statewide.

The Pharmacy Analytics and Outcomes team is a service group within Pharmacy Services with a focus on advancing institutional, departmental, and system initiatives through data analysis and modeling to guide effective health care decision making. Our vision is to positively impact patient health outcomes and health care through providing data insight and analysis. The mission of Pharmacy Analytics and Outcomes is to partner with stakeholders in creating, evaluating, and guiding data-driven best practices by providing actionable information and expert consultation. The Pharmacy Analytics and Outcomes team has a mix of analysts, including individuals with a pharmacy background, individuals with IT/analytics background, and a biostatistican. The team supports both system Pharmacy Services and local entity Departments of Pharmacy.

Position Summary:

This position will support the Pharmacy Analytics and Outcomes team in delivering high quality insight and reporting across Pharmacy Services. The successful candidate will gather, interpret, share, analyze and broadly influence clinical, operational and financial data critical to the success of departmental initiatives. Analytical tools utilized in this position will include, but are not limited to:

  1. SAP Business Objects
  2. Tableau
  3. Microsoft Excel
  4. SQL (utilizing DBeaver)
  5. Epic

Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical/quality reporting and data analysis to generate insights that can be transformed into action
  • Develop recurring reports and dashboards that provide enhanced insight and organizational decision-making to support project implementation and organizational efficiency
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of data warehouses and available data sources
  • Provide consultative and analytical support including design, implementation, coordination, and data querying to support patient outcome improvement work
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including pharmacy leaders, pharmacists, UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy faculty; as well as external stakeholders, including the Information Services Division (ISD)
  • Support system pharmacy technology infrastructure as needed
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities
  • Provide a high level of support for high priority departmental initiatives such as value care contracts and specialty pharmacy growth.
  • Teaches students, residents and new pharmacy staff and participates in scholarly activities.
  • Assist in development and leadership of strategic priorities for the team.

This position is primarily virtual (work from home), but there are opportunities to visit entities and/or telework from our offices in Morrisville, NC.

  • Desire to learn how to use new, potentially complex, software to support the team
  • Ability to demonstrate independent proficiency in clinical, operational, and financial data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to take initiative to learn new things and share knowledge

Preferred Experience:

  • Two years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, in a healthcare business, or setting which provides similar experience, is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience with SQL, Microsoft Excel, and/or Business Intelligence Tools (e.g., Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Qlik) is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in working with clinical (specifically electronic medical record/Epic) or pharmacy operational (e.g., inventory management, claims, automation) data strongly preferred

● Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in NC. Licensure from NC Board of Pharmacy required within 6 months of orientation date or sooner if required for operations.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Two years of prior pharmacist experience or equivalent required.
