Summary:
The sterile processing
cleaner’s duties relate to the cleaning of the sterile processing department
including the sterile storage, prep assembly, decontamination area , break
room, dressing room, elevators, trash room, office, receiving area and bathroom.
Regular and biohazard trash and linen removal are duties of the sterile
processing cleaner and stocking supplies. They must maintain patient
confidentiality and participate in CQI activities.
Responsibilities:
1. Vacuums and mops the sterile storage area, prep assembly area, receiving area, sterile elevator,
office, break room, hallway, dressing rooms and bathroom and replenishes supplies as needed.
2. Removes trash and linen from all areas.
3. Dust mops decontamination area, decontamination elevator, and trash room.
4. Cleans vents in department monthly and documents.
5. Checks in stock and stocks supplies in appropriate areas.
6. Answers phone calls and requests for supplies.
7. Assists in pulling supplies for case carts.
8. Terminally cleans sterile processing department.
9. Stores and dispenses sterile supplies appropriately.

Education Requirements:
● High school graduate or equivalent minimum.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● None required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Basic computer skills helpful.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and designation between decontamination area and clean area/sterile storage area.
