Summary:
Using advanced cardiovascular imaging equipment and standards, the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist II prepares and performs and coordinates non-invasive cardiac procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data. By interviewing and preparing patients using in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this expanded cardiac imaging role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and the effective function of the work environment in order to drive optimal care outcomes and expeditious patient flow.


Responsibilities:
• Performs and reports results of non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic procedures and ambulatory monitoring. Collaborate and plan the workday and patient flow with fellow sonographers and nursing/transport support staff.
• Ensures positive patient identification. Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
• Assists with the development, documentation and implementation of imaging protocols. Educates and mentors junior staff and students.
• Reads, comprehends and transcribes imaging order, engaging with vascular surgeon or radiologist when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review.
• Interviews patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety.
• Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy, pathology and the capabilities/limitations of both imaging hardware and specific imaging sequences.
• Measures evaluates and records heart pressures, valve area, and gradients with a range of ultrasound systems for the purpose of identifying abnormal cardiovascular condition.
• Reviews and charts record of care into electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Performs equipment surveillance and reports any concerns regarding image quality, safe operation or needed maintenance/repair.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• 3 years of allied health experience with at least two years of ultrasound experience.
• Registered as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS, or RDMS)
• Education, training and understanding of human anatomy
• BLS certification
• Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) tools
Preferred
• Degree in Allied Health field
• Experience with EPIC and CV-Synapse EMR tools
