Summary:
The Patient Liaison greets and assists patients, family and visitors presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) and assists in providing a pleasant, caring environment by offering comfort and reassurance to those waiting in the lobby.


Responsibilities:
• Greets and assists patients, family and visitors presenting to the Emergency Department (ED). Promotes a professional atmosphere through courteous communication and utilizes good interpersonal skills to assist in providing a pleasant, caring environment by offering comfort and reassurance to those waiting in the lobby.
• Maintains communications with triage nurse upon patient’s arrival to the liaison desk. Informs clinical coordinator/charge nurse of census and events occurring in the lobby (increased volume, anxious visitors, etc.). Identifies customer satisfaction issues and communicates with the ED management.
• Supports the healthcare team with information and administrative support. Answers and directs telephone calls from visitors, staff, and patients. Relays messages for patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other staff from multiple departments.
• Ensures that the ED waiting area and liaison area are clean and orderly.
• Transports patients as assigned to designated areas and uses standard precautions and principles of infection control.

Qualifications

Required
• High school education or equivalent required.
• One (1) years of experience performing in a customer service capacity.
