As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for UNC Health Lenoir Cancer Center, you will build relationships with our patients and their families in order to provide emotional support during their cancer journey as well as help access practical assistance and navigate community resources that ultimately improves the cancer patient’s treatment and recovery efforts. Within our Cancer Center, we offer a collegial work environment filled with a close-knit and caring team of staff that utilize respectful and open communication to successfully work together not only with our patients but with each other.
JOB PURPOSE
Completes clinical assessments of bio-psychosocial needs, provides information and short-term therapeutic counseling to patients and their families in relation to social, psychological, financial, and family situations. Assists in identification of barriers to care and provides cancer support resources to the patient and family.
KEY CUSTOMERS SERVED AND CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
Patients and families are served by providing social support services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Ensures that contacts with physicians and other healthcare team members is friendly, helpful, and courteous.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
o Masters of Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required.
EXPERIENCE
o Background medical social worker preferred.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
o LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).
o Preferred Oncology Social Worker -Certified (OSW-C).
