Job Summary:
The Supervisor for Triangle East Transfer Center is a registered professional nurse who functions under the direction of a Patient Services Manager III and is responsible for overseeing the transition of patient throughout levels of care at UNC Rex, as well as directing the activities related to patient flow, throughput, transport, discharge, and clinical excellence.
Description of Job Responsibilities:
Education and Professional Development
Develops teammates through coordinated training plans, performance reviews and on-going coaching
Hires, develops and evaluates Patient Flow, Transport, and Discharge Unit teammates.
Lead orientation of all new hires to the Triangle East Transfer Center and Bed Placement
Lead continuing education on customer service skills with staff.
Employee and Patient Experience
Has responsibility for overseeing standards of practice, interpreting system and department policies and procedures, and ensuring quality patient care and compliance
Assist with internal and external transfers that use the Transfer Center, including fielding and initially managing complaints.
Utilizes department metrics and develops plans to direct clinical practice performance initiatives, patient and teammate engagement initiatives and improvements in physician relations and overall customer service.
Assures policies and procedures are in place to optimize patient experience and provide high level of quality and patient safety.
Results Oriented Leadership
Contributes to the strategic planning process of the hospital by modifying his/her responsibilities to fulfill the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the organization by developing and implementing strategic plans for practice and care coordination in department.
Educates and evaluates the staff on the individual’s responsibility to fulfill the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the organization.
Establishes goals for the department and reviews performance to ensure that teammates are meeting or exceeding target outcome goals.
Represent patient logistics in facility and system-related process improvement activities
Collaboration and Partnership
Works collaboratively and as a team member with hospital leadership. Partners with Human Resources to achieve desired organizational culture, staffing and workforce metrics.
Fosters positive working relationships between teammates and providers across the Health System.
Fosters a culture that focuses on patient satisfaction, safety, customer service, teammate involvement,
Administrative Compliance
Provides administrative oversight of myTime and API, ensuring that teammate timesheets are verified and approved within specified timelines. Review of Paid Time Off (PTO) requests and utilization to ensure compliance with established policies.
Monitors compliance requirements such as credentials, annual training and vaccination requirements.
Education Requirements:
Graduation from a school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
Professional certification relevant to the practice area and on the ANCC Magnet approved list
Professional Experience Requirements:
Requires three (3) years of nursing practice that includes sufficient clinical and leadership experience to ensure competence, two (2) years of bed placement, transfer center or logistics center experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Experience with computer systems required, including web based application and some Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access required.
