Summary:
Responsible for the delivery of Patient meals and the distribution and collection of Patient menus selections ensuring that all patient meals are served in a courteous and professional manner while verifying that patient’s nutritional needs are being correctly administered as directed from the Nutrition Services department.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the service of patient meals and menus, requires consulting with patient, dietician, dietary personnel, Patient Services Supervisor and Manager as well as nursing staff as needed concerning patient diets. Utilizes the Diet management system appropriately as according to organizational policy. Provides nutritional expertise as needed to insure that all diets are as appropriate and intended. Distributes patient nourishments as directed to appropriate inpatient storage areas as well as making sure that all stock is dated and rotated properly. Processes paperwork and documentation as well as other administrative duties as required.
• Adheres to all regulatory and safety requirements in performing duties. This includes ensuring that all allergies and dietary conditions are in compliance with the recommended physician diet as appropriate for the patient. Follows all procedures to ensure that patient personal data is protected and up to date to include running reports correctly before each meal in order to provide the most up to date information. Follows all guidelines regarding proper hygiene and patient identifiers. Processes paperwork and documentation as well.
• Provides timely, effective and friendly customer service to all contacts that are associated with patient services to include, professional and timely phone etiquette, courteous responses with clear clarification and documentation. Communicates in a timely manner all patient diet preferences, updates, allergies or other relevant information to the appropriate personnel involved with patient care. Assists patients with food tray setup as needed. Maintains a positive attitude in all interactions with others. Meets all customer service goals to include Patient Satisfaction surveys.
• Contributes to maintaining costs and efficiency within the patient service area to include monitoring Late Trays and taking steps to preventing waste as identified. Also effectively communicates all customer complaints and comments to the appropriate patient service supervisor or manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Two (2) of experience working in a foodservice setting
Preferred
• Experience working in an institutional Dietary work group
