Summary:
Implements exercise prescriptions written by the medical staff.
Responsibilities:
1. Implements exercise prescriptions
2. Obtains data for selected physiological functions of the participants, and monitors them during exercise sessions for changes in behavior.
3. Provides instruction and education relevant to participant’s exercise prescription.
4. Participates in evaluating participant rehabilitation.
5. Communicates with team members and physicians regarding participant rehabilitation.
6. Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate rehabilitation based on the age of the participants served.
7. Assists with orienting/training other departmental employees and students to the exercise regimens performed in the department.
Other information:
Education Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree in Physical education physiology, sports medicine or a health field.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● ACLS certification preferred not required
● Basic Life Support (BLS).
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Minimum of one year of previous experience in working with adult fitness and/or cardiac rehabilitation programs is required.
