Job Summary: 

As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and supporting the overall functioning of the department. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient operations and the highest level of patient satisfaction. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with patient care, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and delivering exceptional service to patients and their families. 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Patient Care Assistance: Assist registered nurses in providing basic patient care such as vital signs monitoring, patient hygiene, and comfort measures. Help with the positioning and transferring of patients as required. Support the delivery of prescribed treatments and procedures. Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients. 
  2. Documentation and Communication: Accurately document patient information, vital signs, and other relevant data in the electronic medical record system. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, reporting any significant changes in patient condition or concerns promptly. 
  3. Supplies and Equipment Management: Ensure availability and proper functioning of essential equipment and supplies. Stock and restock supplies as needed, adhering to hospital policies and procedures. Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly environment in patient rooms and common areas. 
  4. Patient Support: Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during their stay in the Emergency Department. Assist with answering patient inquiries and address their non-medical needs. 
  5. Safety and Compliance: Follow established infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or incidents promptly. 
  6. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Participate actively in team meetings, trainings, and educational sessions.

 Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program. Current certification as a Nursing Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. 
  • Prior experience as a Nursing Assistant in an emergency department or acute care setting is desirable.
