UNC Johnston has a innovative and efficient surgical program. We perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures on adult and pediatric populations in our 8 Operating rooms and 3 Endoscopy Rooms. The Nurses and Surgical Technologists provide intraoperative care for a variety of service lines including Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, General, GYN, Robotics, Neuro, ENT, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Endoscopy.
Summary:
The surgical technician is a skilled professional well versed in anatomy and basic surgical procedures that is able to function in the roll of back table set up and first assist as needed. The surgical technician is a vital part of the OR team whose focus is excellent patient care.
Responsibilities:
Scrubs, sets and maintains sterile field. Assembles necessary supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Assists with patient positioning and transport. Assists the surgeon with functions that are within their scope of practice. Maintains sterility at all times during surgical procedures.
Assists in room clean up and turn over as needed.
Operates the steam autoclave and other sterile processing equipment.
Anticipates up coming cases and prepares accordingly.

● Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or a OR Technician with a minimum of five (5) years of recent experience.
