Summary:

Coordinates and oversees security operations and personnel on an assigned shift. As a working supervisor, performs patrolling, surveillance, escorting, investigation and intervention services in an effort to protect the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees, physicians and property. Incumbent is authorized to make arrests in accordance with the state and local provisions.

Responsibilities:

Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, volunteers, medical staff, and the general public by responding to emergency situations, supervising police and security personnel, and maintaining law and order. 

Duties include orientation and training of officers, inspections of officers and/or other departmental personnel on a shift, coordination of pre-shift briefings, review of all reports and investigations accomplished during a shift, activity coordination, discipline, conducting performance reviews, and providing input concerning operational planning. 

Patrols buildings and grounds, and observes for unsafe or illegal activity, and for doors/areas which are not secured.

Responds to calls for assistance. 

Ensures that all required documentation is completed by assigned personnel in accordance with procedure and time frames. Delivers clear and accurate reports at shift change, and ensures that Chief of Security is kept informed regarding routine and non-routine activities and issues relating to the department, on an on-going basis. 

Performs other duties as needed.

Other information:

1. High school graduate or GED.

2. Private Protective Services armed certification or Graduate of accredited Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. 

3. 2 years law-enforcement or armed security supervisory experience. 

4. Experience in health care or university campus experience preferred. 

5. Commissioned as a law enforcement officer by the State of North Carolina 

6. North Carolina driver’s license 

7. CPI Certification and BCLS Certification 

9. 2 years of experience Operations - Security/Surveillance.
