Summary:
The Materials Management Technician - OR inventories and resupplies PAR areas in all departments (specializing in Surgical Services’ areas). Pulls surgical case carts as specified by preference card picklists. Maintains clean and functional patient care equipment in all clinical areas. In addition, the Materials Management Technician - OR helps maintain the bulk, LUM and isolation inventories by ordering, receiving, labeling, date checking, and cycle counting the supplies that flow in and out of these areas. Other duties include: management of supplies for Code, Swan Ganz, Pacemaker and Bone Marrow carts.
Responsibilities:
1. Organizes own work activities to ensure their proper completion in a timely manner.
Manages time effectively by assigning priority to work activities.
Adheres to the procedural guidelines recorded within the Standard of Work for Materials Management Technicians
Understands the importance of their role to the overall success of the hospital.
Completes duties in a timely and efficient manner
Prioritizes responsibilities to ensure completion of duties
Demonstrates knowledge of the overall function of the Materials Management Department
2. Inventories and restocks PAR locations and OR Supply Rooms according to predetermined inventory levels.
Inventories supplies maintained in PAR locations daily or as scheduled to determine supply needs.
Picks the supplies necessary to replenish PAR levels in multiple inventory locations.
Assures the correct supplies are neatly stocked in the correct quantities and that charge labels are affixed when/where applicable.
Orders, receives and restocks all OR supplies in an accurate and timely manner.
Evaluates/reviews the appropriate PAR levels in all OR Supply areas on a routine and/or scheduled basis.
3. Performs case cart picking and cases cart returns.
Performs case cart picking for both scheduled, add-on, and emergent cases.
Works in partnership with OR clinical staff to maintain accuracy of case carts.
Return unused case cart supplies back to their proper PAR locations.
4. Assists with inventory auditing processes to insure the accuracy of the hospital's supply chain operation.
Participate in the weekly/monthly cycle count process in all inventory areas.
Perform expiration date assessments in all inventory areas and PAR locations managed by the Materials Management Dept. as assigned/scheduled.
Assist in the recall process for supplies/equipment within all Inventory/PAR areas
Participates in the year-end inventory process and helps identify and resolve count variances.
5. Assists OR Inventory Coordinator with updating the Tissue Tracking software for the Surgical Services Department.
Updates the Tissue Tracker system as required, which includes vendor certifications, recalls and quarterly inventory verification.
6. Assists OR Inventory Coordinator with the supply charge review process.
Analyzes patient charges to ensure accuracy and accountability
7. Maintains a sufficient inventory of clean, functional equipment.
Inspects equipment daily or as assigned for any damage or missing parts
Transports damaged equipment to Clinical Engineering for repair.
Cleans equipment with appropriate chemicals necessary to sanitize equipment safely and effectively.
Bands cleaned equipment for easy identification.
A sufficient inventory of equipment is maintained at all times in a logical, systematic, and clearly labeled manner.
