Description

Summary:
Performs skilled work in the general and specific operation, installation, repair and maintenance of hospital electrical systems, equipment and devices installed throughout hospital buildings, facilities. Although electrical work is the primary responsibility, this position shall be capable of providing general maintenance assistance and support as necessary.
Responsibilities:
• Modifies the existing electrical system as necessary to serve additional electrical equipment and install circuits, protective devices, wire & cable, transformers and switches in accordance with National Electrical Code, especially NFPA 99, 101 and 110. Repairs or replaces defective, damaged or obsolete electrical equipment, conductors and circuits as needed to restore service and provide reliable electric service throughout all hospital buildings.
• Installs and maintains the electrical systems, equipment, devices, and standby generation installed in or provided for all buildings and facilities to comply with hospital maintenance policies and for the safety and comfort of patients, staff and visitors. Plans work and coordinates interruptions of services and utilities with departments being affected.
• Updates electrical system drawings as needed and document monthly PMs in compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintains detailed electrical maintenance records to document compliance. Inspects completed work for accuracy and compliance and corrects or reports deficiencies to departmental management.
• Conducts regular, scheduled electrical safety inspections as required, documents those inspections, and develops and implements corrective actions where necessary. Performs periodic tests of all electrical circuitry, isolated power systems, surgical suite lighting systems, standby generators, transformers, equipment and switches (including automatic transfer switches) to determine and maintain the operating integrity of these devices, ensuring a safe environment.
• Performs moderate job assignments in general facility maintenance, including corrective work orders as assigned.
• Participates as needed in outdoor tasks including snow/ice removal and cleanup. Participates as needed in general tasks such as office furniture moves, equipment room cleaning, and assists with routine calls to respond to the needs of patients, visitors, and staff.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must hold a valid electrical license as a Journeyman or Master Electrician issued by an AHJ.
• Four (4) years of progressive experience in the maintenance and installation of electrical systems, equipment, and devices in institutional buildings and facilities as a journeyman electrician.
