Summary: 

The Research Analytical Solution Manager (ASM) acts as a bridge between UNC Health's Information Services Division and research groups across the University. The role acts as a functional lead for UNC Health's research analytics and research data enablement across multiple business or clinical areas of the healthcare system, and will work closely with the UNC School of Medicine, the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute (NC TraCS), and other research groups. Responsibilities will include assessing the needs of a diverse group of researchers, creating a roadmap for our research data platform, building consensus on the roadmap, proposing and facilitating the execution of technology projects, and enabling the productive use and support of research platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Mindset & Communication:
    • Fluent communicator experienced working with senior executives, researchers, legal and policy experts, and information systems staff.
    • Work with stakeholders and technology leaders to build consensus around roadmaps and solutions.
    • Build positive relationships with leaders across the organization, considering long-term business goals.
    • Tailor communications and approach to different situations and organizational cultures.
  • Enterprise Leadership, Mentorship & Training:
    • Build consensus on research data and platform needs and priorities.
    • Establish and lead virtual teams of research, research operations, clinical, business, and information services staff in the execution of projects.
    • Mentor junior staff and members of the analytics community.
    • Educate research teams on available resources and processes for accessing and using health system data.
  • Program Management & Facilitation:
    • Apply product and program management principles to create new research, data, and analytical capabilities.
    • Consult with business stakeholders to design and scope solutions.
    • Capture and prepare project intake (demands), document business decisions, manage risks and scope, and update customers on progress.
  • Delivery & Enablement:
    • Deliver research data platform capabilities, driving adoption with the research community to realize value.
    • Track and report on adoption of delivered solutions.
    • Provide end-user enablement and support, including high-touch customer service, communications, and creation of reusable knowledge assets (documentation and training content).
    • Serve as the liaison between end-user communities and developers, helping to identify, scope, and prioritize ongoing solution delivery.

A successful candidate will bring strong experience with healthcare research data environments and processes.

Education Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● If a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (i.e. Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Analytics, etc.), then three (3) years of experience is required.
If Master’s Degree, then three (3) years of experience is required.
If a Bachelor's Degree in other field, requires four (4) years of experience.
If current certification in analytics, requires four (4) years of experience.
If an Associate's Degree, requires six (6) years of experience.
If High School Diploma, requires eight (8) years of experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● -Ability to function with limited guidance and be comfortable working on projects alone or leading more junior team members.
