Summary:

This position supports the communications needs for UNC Health’s Community Health & Engagement department, which plays a crucial role in enhancing how we serve our patients, teammates and communities across North Carolina by improving access to care and health literacy, particularly in our rural and underserved communities. The role will be embedded within Community Health & Engagement to drive the communications strategy and will report into UNC Health’s Internal Communications team to ensure alignment with our overall communications plans and approach.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with UNC Health and UNC School of Medicine to build relationships and leverage communications channels across the health system and school. 
  • Supports the development and execution of an overall communications plan and strategy and help lead the creation of associated materials (both written and visual) to promote UNC Health and how we serve our patients, teammates and communities across North Carolina by improving access to care and health literacy. 
  • Partners with leadership and other teams to develop communication and process design needs and objectives. 
  • Proactively offers creative solutions to ensure communications are clear, consistent, engaging, relevant, timely and fully support the department’s vision and strategic priorities. 
  • Supports internal communications to teammates and leaders through newsletters, presentations, executive talking points, scripts, meetings, posters, etc. 
  • Creates communications plans made for special events such as community health fairs, screenings, education programs, health classes, expos, etc. 
  • Writes and helps in the preparation of certain publications such as brochures, booklets, alumni materials and employee and special constituent newsletters.

Education Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Three (3) year of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service skills.
