Summary:

The Chief Operating Officer, UNC Health Rex is responsible for leading and overseeing the overall day-to-day operations of UNC Health - Rex Main campus and the Holly Springs campus. The COO will serve as a strategic leader and trusted advisor to the CEO, playing a critical role in the organization's success.  This role is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of all departments and hospital-based clinics, as well as direct influence of the hospital-based clinics and services and various joint venture initiatives, ensuring high-quality patient care, financial stability, and adherence to all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:
1. Promotes, reinforces and personally demonstrates the operating philosophy, mission and core values of UNC Health to all patients, medical staff members, teammates and the communities the health system serves.
2. Collaborates with CNO and CFO to oversee day to day operations, policy development and regulatory compliance.
3. Assists the President & CEO in developing strategic plans designed to position assigned entity, for sustained growth and a prosperous future.
4. Continues the development of a service-oriented organization which focuses top decile performance in quality/core measures and in patient, physician and teammate satisfaction.
5. Ensures the organization achieves or exceeds its financial goals.
6. Cultivates productive relationships and partnerships with the medical staff necessary for the organization to successfully respond to challenges impacting operations.
7. Supports and facilitates positive and productive collaboration and integration efforts within UNC Health.
8. Serves as a visible, accessible and engaged leader to Rex's 7000+ teammates.
9. Participates in Board, teammate, and medical staff meetings as required. Serves as executive representative to system/professional/civic service organizations as directed. Meets with organizations as executive representative as directed. Meets with members of the community as required to promote good community relations.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:
● Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Administration or related field required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● None required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Requires a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience, with at least twelve (12) years of management experience. Experience effectively managing operations at the Executive level. Holds a deep understanding of core clinical business functions.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Understands the overarching System operations and policies that guide the organization. Drives and develops innovative ideas and solutions with significance to the organization’s future. Identifies problem areas and skill gaps proactively and addresses them appropriately. Excellent project management and change management skills for designing and implementing high priority System or business group initiatives in a complex environment.
