Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor needed
The UNC Medical Center Advanced Life Support Program is responsible for providing certification training programs to the employees of UNC Medical Center, Hillsborough Campus, Wakebrook Campus and other UNC Healthcare facilities. We offer training programs at our Education and Human Patient Simulation Center located at the UNC Timberlyne building in Chapel Hill, NC. Our training programs are simulation based, hands-on and tailored to the needs of the co-workers of the facilities we serve. This position will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of educational programs through didactic and perform psychomotor skills training using a variety of both high and low fidelity human patient simulation equipment. The successful candidate will become a valued member of and collaborate with other faculty, adjunct instructors, and a broad range of healthcare employees.

American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
We have an immediate need for a certified NRP instructor. In addition to NRP instructor certification, the successful candidate will have experience in a Neonatal, Labor and Delivery or other Neonatal Transport Unit. Instructor certifications in our other disciplines are a plus however, we will work to get the successful candidate the additional certifications during the first six months of hire.
The duties for this position include:
-Teaching certification courses to UNC Healthcare System employees involving classroom delivery, teaching skill labs, human patient simulation and behavioral health certification classes
-Use, care and maintenance of a wide variety of human patient simulation equipment.
-Researching new training products and maintaining skill lab and simulation equipment
-Performing Lead Instructor duties for a wide range of American Heart Association (AHA) Classes.
-Functions as a liaison between UNC Staff and AHA
-Assist with other training duties related but not limited to:
-Set up classroom and simulation labs
-Clean and reset classroom and simulation labs after training sessions
-Committee assignments e.g. Hospital Resuscitation Committee, Workplace Safety Committee
-Work closely with UNC Hospitals Nurse Practice and Professional Development Committee.
-Attend meetings, continuing education and professional growth training
-Other duties as required by the position and to meet the goals of the department
Ability to teach didactic and perform psychomotor skills related to the programs listed as well as the ability to use a variety of both high and low fidelity human patient simulation equipment to teach team oriented skills needed. Will be expected to collaborate with other instructors utilizing space and resources effective to promote learning and department operations. Team approach to work with management to operate within the budget and strive toward continuous efforts toward quality of service to clients is expected.
This is a salaried position - seeking 40 hours per week mostly day shift- flexible schedule inclusive of occasional evenings and Saturdays. Part time hours are also available to interested candidates.

Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Two (2) years of experience in a high fidelity Emergency Medical Services system, in a hospital critical care unit, emergency department or inpatient psychiatry unit.
Must have one of the following upon hire and gain no less than two additional during the first six months of employment: AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, AHA PALS, APA NRP (in order to be lead NRP Instructor) CPI, APT, restraint validation.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to produce text documents, spreadsheets, and other educational related documents preferred and, in addition, basic familiarity with database entry is desired.
