Job Description

Clinical Support Technician (CST) I for Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit

The Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit (CTSU), a 13 bed intermediate critical care unit responsible for the care of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients.  Typical patients include those who have undergone major cardiac, vascular or thoracic surgery, heart/lung transplantation and procedures requiring postoperative telemetry and/or respiratory monitoring.

Clinical Support Technicians (CST) in this area collaborate as members of an inter-professional, team-oriented environment that is conducive to learning, and are expected to actively participate in unit quality improvement efforts.

Duties include obtaining vital signs and daily weights, answering telephones, communicating patient/family needs to the care team, ordering unit supplies, and assisting patients with activities of daily living. CSTs on this unit are an integral part of the patients’ recovery, as they help patients reach postop mobility and rehabilitation milestones.

Unit objectives are to exceed patient satisfaction and quality benchmarks in a cost effective manner. We are recruiting for a CST with positive motivational skills, strong communication among the inter-professional team and a proactive work ethic.

This is a full time position requiring 36 hours/week for 12 hour day/night rotating shifts (6:45am-7:15pm, 6:45pm-7:15am), with weekend rotation.   Must be able to complete a week long hospital orientation (Monday through Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm)

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience and six (6) months of related nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
