Hours: Friday, Saturday & Sunday 7:30pm-8:00am and Holiday rotations; hours subject to change based on departmental need.
The Ultrasound Technologist independently performs diagnostic U/S exams (including but not limited to: Adult and Pediatric Abdominal, Pelvic, Abdominal Transplant Duplex, Small Parts, Peripheral Vascular, Echoencephalograms, Endovaginal, and Transrectal exams). Technologist will also assist the attending radiologist with interventional procedures such as abdominal biopsies, fluid aspirations and drain placements. Employee will comply with departmental protocols and under indirect supervision of the attending radiologist and technical supervisor.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: proper operation of and care for equipment, providing quality care to patients, and knowing how to use the computer ordering, tracking and report systems. Involvement with peers in the scheduling and coordinating daily workload. Summarizing exam findings on a report worksheet and communicating the impression to the radiologist at the completion of each exam. Accuracy in the performance of exams is required with a willingness to learn and perform all procedures now being done and new procedures as necessary. Works closely with Radiologists to not only perform exams but to assist in training of Residents, Fellows, and Students assigned to the area. Maintains CE Credits as directed by ARDMS.
This position will require the coverage of weekends and nights to provide coverage during vacations or emergency situations. The orientation period for this technologist will last from five to eight weeks and may cover day and evening shifts or until the employee can become competent on the shift. Call responsibility may start upon completion of the orientation period. The orientation period is not equal to the probationary period. The probationary period will last for nine months.

QualificationsCompletion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound. RDMS registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible and become registered within one (1) year from date of hire. Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
