Clinical Nurse II Job Description
The UNC Rehabilitation Center is a 30-bed inpatient facility that provides medical care, nursing care, and rehabilitation therapy to people with temporary and permanent disabilities. Common diagnoses include stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple traumas (often from motor vehicle accidents), and amputation. We also care for patients with various orthopedic, neuromuscular, and neurological impairments. In the Rehabilitation Center, the Clinical Nurse (CN) II cares for 5-6 patients per shift with support from Certified Nursing Assistants and a Health Unit Coordinator. This nurse provides routine direct and indirect care in the rehabilitation setting and has the opportunity to collaborate with our physicians and therapists to provide the best patient care. CN IIs are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s care, which includes but is not limited to completing daily assessments, administering medications, providing trach and g-tube care, administering tube feedings, completing simple and complex wound care and dressing changes, assisting with transfers in and out of the bed/wheelchair, and reinforcing therapy directives. This is a 36 hour (3 12-hour shifts) per week position, primarily day shift (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM). This nurse is also required to work 2 weekends every 6 weeks.
Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. One (1) year of nursing experience. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
