RN needed for 15 - bed Acute Burn and Wound Unit. We are an acute burn and wound unit and function as an extension of the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center. We care for adult patients who have a burn injury and/or other type of complex wounds. The burn injuries on our unit are acute and generally less than 20% of total body surface area. We provide burn and wound care to these patients from the acute through rehabilitative phase. We also care for overflow patients from other units on the acute care surgical units and occasionally overflow form the acute care medicine units with patients including but not limited to: plastic surgery patients, diabetic wounds, and pressure ulcers. The nurses who work on 5 East are trained in medical-surgical nursing as well as burn and wound care. Prior wound and or burn experience is preferred, but not mandatory- we will train you in this specialty.
Our nursing team works with the interdisciplinary team to provide the best possible care for our patients. The team includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nursing assistants, physical, occupational and recreational therapists, chaplains, and rehabilitation counselors, social workers and dieticians. We are team oriented, dynamic caregivers and experienced patient advocates. We foster a professional, collaborative atmosphere conducive to learning.
This position is 36 hours a week rotating 12 hour shifts days / nights / weekends (7:00 am-7:30 pm and 7:00 pm-7:30am) with self scheduling to meet the needs of the unit and the staff. This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO hours accrued based on the number of hours hired to work.
Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing and one (1) year of nursing (RN) experience. If hired after January 6, 2014, without a BSN or MSN, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina and current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider/BLS Provider certification also required.
