North Carolina Heart & Vascular outpatient offices seeking experienced nuclear medicine technologist to assist with coverage as needed (per diem); location will vary.
Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
Interviews patient and family members as appropriate to determine concise history and appropriateness of exam protocol. Explains procedure and takes appropriate safety.
Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by authorized physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ system on monitor or film. (Includes: proper positioning, adhering to safety precautions, producing hard copy image, evaluating image quality, data entry for imaging equipment)
Observes patient to monitor patient safety and comfort level. Takes corrective action as appropriate.
Calculates, calibrates and administers doses of therapeutic and diagnostic radioactive materials under direction of authorized physician.
Assists in scheduling and sequencing of exams. Works closely with radiologist and referring physicians to ensure the appropriateness of the procedure.
Orders, receives, stores and disposes of radioactive materials in accordance with regulations and departmental policy and procedures.
Documents procedures and administration of radioisotopes in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and state/federal requirements (includes labeling of films, worksheet and log documentation, confirming of exams, ordering of exams, protocols).
Performs quality control measures within Nuclear Medicine, including daily camera QC, area surveys, equipment QC.
Maintains equipment and room in good operating condition. Troubleshoots equipment problems and aids in coordinating repairs and rescheduling patients a necessary.
HIgh school diploma (or GED); graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology is required. One year of nuclear technology experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
ARRT-N or CNMT required.
